ASSISTANT PROFESSOR Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, University of Saskatchewan
Applications are invited for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Saskatchewan, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2019 or soon thereafter.
A completed Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics or Economics with demonstrated expertise in agricultural and applied economics or regional economics is required for this position. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of microeconomic theory and quantitative methods with an ability to contribute to the undergraduate agribusiness program and the new Joint Ph.D. program in Applied Economics . Evidence of the potential to become a high quality post-secondary teacher-scholar and to operate as a team player in a collegial environment is also required.
The candidate will be expected to establish a successful and well-funded program of research. The appointee will typically deliver three courses per year at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels. Specific teaching duties will be assigned according to the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant and needs of the program. The incumbent will provide leadership and mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students, and engage with relevant stakeholders to identify issues, obtain research funds, and effectively communicate research results.
The University of Saskatchewan recently approved a new joint Ph.D. program in Applied Economics, hosted jointly by the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, Department of Economics, Edwards School of Business and the Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy. The successful applicant will actively participate in this program through course delivery and graduate student supervision and will hold a primary appointment (70%) with the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics and a secondary appointment (30%) in the Department of Economics.
The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics offers both a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in agricultural economics, as well as undergraduate programs in agribusiness, agricultural economics, and renewable resource management. With internationally recognized faculty, the department has a strong history of research excellence in agricultural economics, policy and agribusiness management.

Salary bands for this position are as follows: Assistant Professor: $93,293 to $112,109; Associate Professor: $112,109 to $130,925; and Professor $130,925 to $152,877.
