Undergraduate and Graduate Student CALL for Posters
Students studying agricultural economics, resource economics, agribusiness or related fields are invited to prepare posters for presenting your research at the 13th Annual CAES-SCAE Policy Conference: “DISRUPTED MARKETS: IMPLICATIONS FOR CANADA AND THE REST OF THE WORLD”.
Posters can be related to independent research related to your thesis or to independent analysis conducted for course work or academic employment. The poster competition will take place at 5 pm on January 26th, during the hybrid conference being held Jan 26-27, 2023. If you can’t travel to be in Ottawa don’t worry, you can still submit a poster to the competition for virtual consideration and presentation.
This is an excellent professional development opportunity – the audience is often people who work as professional economists and agricultural economists for government, banks commodity and other organizations.
Opportunities for Finalists: The top three finalists (in each category) will be given the opportunity to present their poster in front of a live audience to try and clinch the top prizes just prior to the conference workshop on Friday Jan 27th 11:45 – 12:15 pm. First place will win registration for the future CAES-SCAE Annual Meeting (being held in Summer 2023 in Whistler BC, joint with the WAEA) in addition to a cash prize. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finalists in each category.

Poster Preparation: Posters should be prepared for a non-academic audience. While the normal structure of a research activity should be followed (background, objectives, methods, results) the focus should be on the policy rationale and implications of your research. As well as preparing a poster, if you wish to submit virtually, please record a 2-minute video in which you present your poster (as if you were presenting to a live audience), either in ZOOM or as a voice over in Power point. The video along with the poster will be uploaded to the conference website. For those in person the posters will be mounted on poster boards and you can answer questions directly to the conference attendees. Virtual attendees will also need to be available for any questions.
How to Submit: Email the title and names of authors (please identify the presenting author) and whether you will attend virtually or in person to Ashley Klotz at contact@caes-scae.ca by January 6, 2023.
