12th Annual Agri-Food Policy Poster Competition
Undergraduate and Graduate Student
CALL FOR POSTERS
Students studying agricultural economics, resource economics, agribusiness or related fields are invited to prepare posters for the 12th Annual CAES Policy Conference: “Food Security, and Indigenous and Northern Economic Development: Policies and Future Directions”. Posters can be related to independent research related to your thesis or to independent analysis conducted for course work or academic employment. The poster competition will take place at an organized time during the virtual conference being held Jan 18-20, 2022.
This is an excellent professional development opportunity – the audience is often people who work as professional economists and agricultural economists for government, banks and commodity and other organizations.
Opportunities for Finalists: The top finalists will be given the opportunity to present their research in front of a live audience (via Zoom) just prior to the conference workshop. First place will win registration for the forthcoming CAES Annual Meeting (tentatively scheduled for the first half of June 2022 as hybrid meeting, with the face-to-face or in-person location being Winnipeg), in addition to a cash prize . Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finalists:
Undergraduate Prizes Graduate Prizes

2nd Prize- $150.00 CND 2ND Prize $300.00 CND

Poster Preparation: Posters should be prepared for a non-academic audience. While the normal structure of a research activity should be followed (background, objectives, methods, results), the focus should be on the policy implications of your research. As well as preparing a poster, please record a 2-minute video in which you present your poster (as if you were presenting to a live audience), either in ZOOM or as a voice over in Powerpoint. The video and the poster will be uploaded to the conference website. During the Student Poster Competition session at the virtual conference, the audience will review and vote on the posters and you will be able to answer questions.
How to Submit: Abstracts should be submitted in MS Word format and include the title, name(s) and affiliation(s) of all author(s) and the supervisor(s) (if applicable), and indicate which author will be presenting. Email abstracts to contact@caes-scae.ca by January 3, 2022.
A pdf file of the poster and the 2-minute video presentation must be submitted to Jennifer Vignola at contact@caes-scae.ca by January 10, 2022.
